Lakes Folly is one of Australia's oldest artisan wineries in the Hunter Valley. Established by specialised surgeon Doctor Max Lake in 1963. He took the world by surprise and showed them that it was possible for a totally unqualified person to successfully establish and produce extremely high quality wines! They produce 2 main flagship wines: Chardonnay and Cabernet blend.

Whilst their Cabernets are heralded as the most collected reds in Australia, it is their Chardonnay that really struck a chord for me. If you're looking for a big buttery Chardonnay, then look elsewhere. What makes Lakes Folly Chardonnay special lies in the oak handling. 30% new oak (100% French oak, with some 500L larger barrels to impart more subtle oak) with some additional time on lees for added complexity, no malolactic fermentation. 

Tastes Like?

A very pure chardonnay with exceptional balance and charm. Vibrant palate with flavours of white peach, white flowers and oatmeal notes with a hint of creaminess that will develop over the years.
