One of those wineries with that hard to pronounce name, Ngeringa is one of Australia’s original biodynamic winegrowing pioneers owned by husband and wife team Erinn and Janet Klein. Situated on the far eastern side of Adelaide Hills, in Mount Barker, Ngeringa prides itself in working with the cycles of nature to bring out the best expression of the terroir, season and wine variety, resulting in small batch, handcrafted wines with finesse and individuality. The estate has been certified biodynamic for more than 20 years!

Their playful Pét-Nat is made from 5 different varietals: 25% Viognier, 25% Pink Semillon, 25% Chardonnay (sparkling base), 15% Pinot Gris and 10% Gewürtztraminer each grown on different sites across the Ngeringa estate. But what exactly is a pét-nat? Pét-nat is actually one of the oldest types of sparking wine in the world, even older than Champagne. It is produced by bottling wine before it has completed fermentation made without added sugars or yeast. Often made just a few months after harvest, the resulting wines actually taste like a grape! But beware, not all pét-nats are created the same! It takes an experienced and skilful biodynamic winemaker to harness nature at its best in order to produce something truly unique and delicious (and not a pét-nasty!). The Ngeringa Pét-Nat is aged for 3 months in old French barrels using wild fermentation, spontaneous fermentation, gentle extraction and minimal temperature control. No fining.

Tastes Like?

Highly aromatic with notes of pink grapefruit, nashi pear, passionfruit and a hint of rosewater. Palate is lively and refreshing with nice cleansing acidity and great structure. Flavours of citrus, peaches, strawberry and exotic fruit. Delicious, fun drop perfect for the summer sun! Something cheeky that will impress your friends!
