Why you’ll love it:

The Terre di Sava projected began in 2008 with the vision of protecting and restoring the native grape of Puglia and its winemaking traditions. The Salento wine region around Sava has the largest and best Primitivo bush vines, some of which are over 100 years old. It was Terre di Sava's aim to rejunivate some of these old vineyards using modern technology to  produce authentic wines that reflect the unique surroundings of this region. 

The grapes were destemmed and fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks at 21-24C. The wine was left to rest in tank until bottled. Primitivo and Zinfadels are essentially the same grape, cloned. In Europe the terminology is sometimes used interchangeably whereas US have started to be more strict on the naming.

Tastes Like?

Intense ruby ​​red colour with violet inflections. Intense, fruity nose exhibiting notes of dark plum and black cherries, violets and a hint of mixed spice. Full bodied, soft and harmonious tannins, with flavours of dark cherries, blueberry, earthy, tar and liquorice. Good length on the finish. Very smashable today but can cellar for medium term.
