Why you’ll love it:

The Swinney family have been growing grapes for 4 generations. It's always special when you get a wine that's been nurtured by the winemaker from vine to bottle. The Swinney family own 3 vineyard sites in Frankland River. They are one of the few in Australia to grow bush vine trained Grenache. This method is normally used in hotter climate regions (like Greece, Portugal) to give the grapes some shade from the sun. But bush vines make harvesting far more labour intensive and hence not commonly found in Australia. Much love goes into each bottle and quality is evident.

Minimal winemaking to capture the fruit characters of the different varieties. Cold maceration to varying degrees on each variety. Extended time on skins to extract optimal natural tannins. Aged in a combination of new, one and two-year old French oak puncheons.

Tastes Like?

Intense concentration of dark fruits on the nose, blackcurrant, blackberries, dark cherries and violet. Medium-full bodied with harmonious integration of oak and tannins. Flavours of dark fruits flow on to the palate, with dark mocha notes and a hint of sweet spice. Lovely finish. Really smashable crowd pleaser to bring to your next dinner party!

Critics notes:

Cabernet sauvignon, tempranillo, grenache. Flashy with redcurrant, raspberry and cherry-cola flavours, a wave of dusty/spicy tannin then crashing through the back half. Milk chocolate characters play a role too. There's a lot to suggest that this will mature exceptionally well.
