Why you'll love it?

SRC sounds like Italian for 'here we are'. Crasà is a fairly new winery that has certainly arrived in a big way. Crasà owns five hectares on the northern slope of the volcano Etna in the districts of Crasà, Calderara, Scimonetta and Rivaggi (all between the towns of Castiglione di Sicilia and Randazzo ). Alberello comes from two vineyards, one at 600 m and the other at 650m with 50 year old vines. It is mostly made up of the native red grape nerello mascalese with a tiny percentage of inzolia. All the wines are fermented with native yeasts in cement tanks without temperature control and do not undergo any fining or filtration.

Tastes Like?

Deep ruby red with slight garnet in colour. Nose is pronounced with perfumes of strawberry, preserved plum, dried roses, raspberry and earthy. Fine, well integrated tannins, medium plus body and high acidity. Excellent concentration of flavours, full of strawberry, ripe red cherries, baked plum, wet earth and a hint of smokey minerality. A great expression of its volcanic surroundings.
