Why you’ll love it:
Eduard Pie is one of the new generation wine makers in Penedes, a region that’s mostly known for its Cava. The Sicus vineyards are located in Bonastre, surrounded by mountains and about 6km away from the Mediterranean Sea. His entire winemaking philosophy is based on respect for the land and maximum expression of terroir, there’s no use of herbicides or pesticides on the farm, all grapes are hand picked, wild yeast fermented. The wines are a personification of the land and its surroundings. So much so, the Sons is actually fermented and aged in amphoras buried underground between the vineyards! This is an extraordinary Monastrell made with the utmost care and dedication to expression of terroir, no wonder it’s coined ‘liquid terroir’. Only 250 bottles made.

Tastes Like?
Deep dark purple red, immensely concentrated noise, dark ripe fruits, blackberry, blueberry and a hint of violets. Palate is fruit forward, blueberry, dark cherry, black plum with an earthy, savoury mid palate, liquorice, cedar and star anise on the finish. Ultra fine, velvety smooth tannins, medium acid, full bodied with incredible length.
