Why You'll Love It?
This Barbaresco comes from 50-year-old Nebbiolo vines planted in the famed Roncagliette, one of the finest crus in Barbaresco appellation. The old vines are situated above Gaja’s Costa Russi and Sori Tildin plots, which are contained within the Roncagliette MGA (but never mention it, by choice). All the fruit was hand harvested, basket pressed and left to macerate on skins in cement for around 2 months until malolactic fermentation kicked in, then aged for 16 months in large botti. A combination of power and finesse defines this vintage, more ready-drinking than usual, Olek thinks . Extremely elegant, glorious in its perfume, it is compelling in its fragrance, and finessed in its texture and flavours.
What it tastes like?
"Bright, fresh and fragrant. Aromatic herbs, dried rose, fennel seed, cherry, fresh raspberry, some walnut too. It’s packed with red fruit and has a cranberry juice flavour and refreshing acidity. Feels high definition too, with pumice stone tannin, and clean clear length. So much energy in the glass here, and, frankly, kind of hard not to quaff. Dynamite."
