The Simonsberg ward takes its name from its prominent geographical feature, Simonsberg Mountain, which forms the border between the Stellenbosch and Paarl wine districts. It is one of the most important fine wine regions of South Africa where many of best Cabernet and Merlot are produced.
It took winemaker Alex Milner and his team 4 years to perfect this blend. Beautifully handcrafted, old school style, mostly Cabernet and Merlot with some Petit Verdot, aged in French oak barrels for 24 months. Unfiltered.
Tastes Like?
Intense aromas of blackcurrant, dark cherries, dried leaf, wild herb, aniseed, liquorice and sweet spice. Palate is vibrant and fresh with balance acidity, soft tannins and medium plus body. Intensely concentrated flavours of dried blackcurrant leaf, blueberries, mulberries, a hint of mocha and sweet spice. Great length and super easy to drink now.
