Max & Me is the private label of Phil and Sarah Lehmann born from a chance meeting between Sarah (ballet dancer) and Max (Phil’s dog) after a performance in the Barossa. And as the saying goes the rest is history. They produce small batch wines made with a terroir based philosophy, creating wines with a deep sense of place. The Cabernet Sauvignon is produced from grapes grown from their own estate. On their property, they have 10 hectares of vineyards (50% shiraz, 50% cabernet sauvignon). They have an organic approach to farming preferring to create an environment where nature's own biodiversity controls weeds and pests, rather than relying heavily on chemicals. "Sheep and cattle graze the vineyard grasses during winter, and European species of dung-beetles have been introduced to recycle the animal manure as fertiliser, improving the fertility, water retention and structure."
Deep ruby red. A sensual nose with aromas of blackcurrant, dark chocolate, cassis and vanilla that flow on to a warm and gliding palate. Full bodied with fine tannins and very much at its infancy.
