Why You'll Love It?
The name Maitre D’ refers to winemaker Sparky, who put himself through winemaking college as a left handed Maitre D’. Mollydooker is renowned for their powerful, high intensity, full bodied reds with that “WOW” factor. Often mistaken for using long extraction methods to achieve this effect, their wines are actually only fermented for 5 - 6 days. The flavour profile and intensity of the wines are actually achieved through careful vine management and fruit selection combined with skilful winemakers who meticulously monitor and taste the grapes and wines throughout the entire process to ensure you receive that “WOW” factor in your glass. Minimal sulphites are used in their production. Nitrogen is used instead, which means you'll need to do the Mollydooker shake to release maximum flavour.

The grapes for The Maitre D' come from their sustainably grown Long Gully Road blocks, Ryans Road and Mollydooker vineyards in McLaren Vale. Barrel fermented and matured in 89% American and 11% French oak using 34% new, 50% one year old and 16% two year old barrels. No super premiums (Carnival of Love, Enchanted Path or Velvet Glove) were produced in 2015 which meant all grapes that would have gone into those producing those wines are now in their Left and Family range - making this bottle great value!

Tastes Like?

A big, bold Cabernet with explosive notes of black fruits, ripe black cherries, blackcurrant, blackberries, dark chocolate and vanilla. The palate is voluptuous and full-bodied with high tannins that are velvety smooth and soft. Powerful wine.  Don’t forget to do the Mollydooker shake to taste this wine at its best!
