Frank Cornelissen launched into cult status in the winemaking world fairly quickly and is renowned for his philosophical winemaking approach. Using organic farming methods coupled with minimal winemaker intervention (wild yeast, no fining/filtration, no sulphur) and aged in amphorae clay his wines have an incredible sense of place that reflect the soil more so than the fruit. Produced from low yielding, old vines that are 80-100 years old, his wines are becoming insanely difficult to procure.
Tastes Like?
Burst of red fruits, red cherries, raspberry, pomegranate, strawberries and a hint of Ruby grapefruit with fine yet firm tannins. Unmistakable minerality that's unique to the volcanic soils from which it was produced. Very smashable.
