Why You’ll Love It?

There’s a new wave of South African wineries that have started to adopt more sustainable farming methods, reducing yields and focusing more on producing quality wines. There is no other winemaker who is more passionate about this than Reyneke. Nominated as New World Winery of the Year in the Wine Enthusiast's 2013 Wine Star Awards, Reyneke is a pioneer and one of the first to embrace organic viticulture and biodynamic wine-making which basically means little intervention or commercial additives, resulting in a complex, expressive Chenin Blanc that truly depicts the characteristics of the varietal, old vines it is grown from and its terroir.

The Chenin Blanc is harvested from a single vineyard on the Biodynamic farm Reyneke, located in the Polkadraai Hills to the west of Stellenbosch. The vineyards are the oldest on the farm being in excess of 50 years old and are located on a combination of decomposed granitic loam on a clay sub-soil. Whole bunch pressed, fermented in a combination of used French oak barrels and large foudré. Aged on lees for 10 months with another 2 months in stainless steel before bottling.

Tastes Like?

Bright straw yellow in colour with a lovely perfumed nose offering aromas of zesty lemon, lime, green apples, white flowers and a hint of honey. Flavours of apricot, wet stone and lemon zest. Palate is well balanced with a tight linear structure. Quite robust body, luscious and creamy mouthfeel underscored by a long minerallly finish. Really great balance between the creamy texture and acidity.
