Winemaker Filippo Rizzo named his winery after the Moresca Olive Trees that inhabit his land. Lamoresca is located on a hill in the heart of Sicily, in a small town of San Michele di Ganzaria, in the Gigliotto district. The vineyards sit 430m above sea level on sandstone and clay-limestone and benefit from the dramatic temperature differences between day and night. The climate is typically Mediterranean; dry, hot summer with little rain. Having worked with the famous Frank Cornelissen, Filippo also follow the same sustainable farming philosophies with the primary aim of producing the best wines that are great expressions of the region and grape variety. 

Tastes Like?

Ruby red in colour, this vintage unlike previous vintages, was made from 100% Nerello Mascalese and no frappato. Intensely perfumed nose with aromas of red fruits, sour cherries, cranberry, strawberry and a hint of wet earth, savoury, meatiness. Medium bodied with fresh natural acidity and fine yet firm tannins.
