Why You'll Love It?

Nerello Mascalese is a grape for Pinot & Nebbiolo lovers. It is a late-ripening, difficult variety, and only on Etna does it retain its fragility and the elegance that makes it great. The wines of Girolamo Russo Feudo are produced from vines that are between 60-65 years old. Located on the north side of Etna around the town of Passopisciaro, 650-750m above sea level, on top of soil structure with minerals that are unique to the Etna region. Winemaker Giuseppe Russo is a pianist by background and applies the same perfectionist, attentive principals to his winemaking, using organic agricultural methods. Only 200 cases produced.

Tastes Like?

Ruby red in colour with garnet inflections. Nose offers loads of black fruits, smoky black cherries, violet, liquorice, wild herbs and sweet spices. Palate is delicate and silky with great structure and concentration. Full mouthfeel, medium-full bodied, but not heavy, with a lovely long finish. Flavours of ripe dark cherries, black plums, prunes, dried roses and a hint of smokiness. Complex wine that evolves in the glass. Drink this with your eyes closed to be transported to the volcanic plains of Etna.
